Bodywork + manual therapy
Personalized treatments where you need it most
It’s not just the needles.
Your care extends beyond the needles. As part of your personalized treatment plan, we may incorporate a variety of hands-on therapies that work in synergy with acupuncture to restore function, relieve tension, and enhance overall healing. These supportive techniques help increase circulation, reduce pain, and break up adhesions—promoting a more complete and balanced recovery by supporting your body’s natural ability to heal.
Manual techniques
Cupping Therapy
Cupping is a traditional technique that uses gentle suction to create negative pressure on the skin, helping to release tension in the muscles and promote the healthy flow of blood and fluids throughout the body. While it's widely used to relieve musculoskeletal pain, cupping can also be beneficial in the early stages of a cold —supporting lung function, easing chest congestion, and encouraging the release of phlegm. In addition, it serves as a powerful tool for stress reduction and overall relaxation.
Gua Sha
Gua sha is a manual therapy that involves gently scraping the skin with smooth-edged tools to release tension, break up adhesions, and stimulate circulation. This therapy is especially effective for addressing musculoskeletal pain and tightness, helping to reduce inflammation and restore mobility. Like cupping, gua sha supports the body’s natural healing process and is commonly used to relieve chronic or acute discomfort in the muscles and joints.
Moxibustion aka “Moxa”
This traditional technique involves the burning of an herb called “mugwort” or “ai ye” over the surface of the body along specific points. We use it to warm the channels and stimulate circulation to reduce pain, boost energy and can even be used to turn breech babies.
Tuina
As one of the oldest systems of bodywork, Tuina works off the same meridians and acupoints as acupuncture, stimulating certain areas of the body to remove blockages to reduce pain and tension. Techiniques used are similar to a western massage with acupressure applied to specific points thus facilitating the healing process. Tuina may sometimes be included during treatments to further enhance the treatment goals.
