Lauren was first introduced to Eastern medicine while earning her BA in Psychology at Cal State University Channel Islands. While her first interest was in psychology, she would find her passion through Eastern medicine. She discovered that the holistic viewpoint of Eastern medicine would bridge the mental/emotional aspects of psychology with the physical body. Upon completion of her BA in Psychology, she enrolled in one of the top Eastern medicine schools in the nation, Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine. Her enthusiasm to learn and eagerness to help others provided her the drive to not only graduate summa cum laude, but caught the eye of her future husband and acupuncture partner, Angelo. Lauren and Angelo live in Thousand Oaks with their son, Mateo.
Angelo was introduced to acupuncture while working towards his BS in Food Science and Nutrition at Chapman University. He took an “Intro to Alternative Medicine” class taught by the esteemed Dr. Rhonda Wimmer. He learned the basic principles behind Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and the most eye opening of what he learned was that TCM provided an individualized diagnosis that aimed to treat the root cause of disease. After earning his bachelors, he joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and was activated in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Once the activation was over, Angelo enrolled at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA where he would meet his future wife and mother of their first child.
